Opportunities for Precision Applications with increasing input costs

·        Application by management zones provides more economical utilization of nutrients by matching nutrient application to yield potential and soil nutrient levels.

·        Application by grids can adjust for inconsistent manure application or the consolidation of previously separate cultural practices.

·        We can no longer afford to simply apply 20 or 30 lbs.  more fertilizer per acre to cover variances.

·        Variable rate anhydrous ammonia application is usually the least cost method of meeting the nitrogen requirements.

·        Plant populations can be varied for each management zone’s yield potential.

·        The increasing cost of acquiring additional acres necessitates getting maximum return on current acres before considering expanded acreage.

Precision Application helps achieve maximum productivity of every acre for the least cost in an environmentally sound manner.
